48,300 children with dementia die prematurely each year
Childhood Dementia Initiative reports that 700,000 children around the world suffer from childhood dementia. Their head of services, Gail Hilton, speaks to Oscar Byrne about Childhood Dementia Initiative’s efforts to raise awareness and provide education regarding the disorder affecting so many young people.
As confronting as it may, it’s important to advocate for more research and treatment for such a harrowing condition that 1 in 2,800 children are born with. Hilton’s also speaks on so many families who are falling through the gaps in the healthcare system. She emphasizes on the importance of breaking the notion that this is only affecting the elderly and encourages people to get involved.
