What to do with 500,000 tonnes of dead carp

In late April, the Federal Government announced a $15 million plan to cull up to 95% of carp living in Australia’s river systems.

The plan will see a particular strain of herpes released into the rivers that will only affect carp populations and leave other species untouched.

But how foolproof is this plan? How will it affect our river systems? And more importantly, what will we do with the 500,000 tonnes of dead carp left in our rivers?
