60% of people with mental illnesses will not seek help
For almost 2 decades now, the non-profit Black Dog Institute has been working to help improve the state of mental health in Australia. They provide some shocking statistics to really drive home the point for their efforts. 60% of people living with mental illnesses will not seek help and since the start of COVID-19, those numbers have only gone up.
For Mental Health Awareness Month, all of October, the Black Dog Institute has launched its One Foot Forward campaign. They aim to create solidarity amongst Australians and those suffering from mental illnesses. Tasman Cassim, senior manager of the Black Dog Institute, speaks to the Drive to tell us more on how people can get involved and help.
