70% of Australians don’t feel in control of their data

Recent study from the non-profit Consumer Policy Research Centre and UNSW Sydney has revealed that, 70% of Australians feel they have little or no control over how their data is disclosed between companies. The lack of transparency with Australian companies and their privacy policies have left consumers understandably frustrated, as they are not given real choices about the use of their data. The study cites suggest urgent law reform is needed to make Australian privacy protections fit for the digital era.
