8th Queer Screen Film Fest

Despite the challenges we’re facing these days due to COVID-19, we’ve still got this extraordinary event in queer cinema to look forward to. The 8th Queer Screen Film Festival is on from 17th – 27th September, 2020. On Drive, festival director Lisa Rose spoke to us about this year’s hybrid festival, which will have content available online and on-demand, in addition to two socially-distanced events, a drag queen double feature at the Skyline Drive-In, and two screenings of the powerful documentary ‘Welcome to Chechnya’ in partnership with Antenna Documentary Film Festival.

Also in the program, there will be three short film packages on offer for free (gay shorts, lesbian shorts, trans & gender diverse shorts), and a live-streaming of the annual Queer Screen Pitch Off where $10, 000 funding will go towards the production of a queer short film, a great opportunity for the Australian filmmaking community
