University Funding Issues

Universities are facing financial difficulties as student enrollment is falling. For the first time since 2003, there are fewer students enrolling in bachelor degrees than the year before, with demand falling and international enrollment stabilising.

 

With enrollments down from school leavers and mature age students alike, it remains to be seen what universities can do apart from make budget cuts. We’re joined now by Andrew Norton, who is the honorary fellow at the Centre for the Study of Higher Education at the University of Melbourne.
