WIRES

WIRES (NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service) is one of the largest and most important voluntary organisations saving and caring for native animals in Australia. The demand for their service is staggering and last financial year WIRES had more than 77,000 requests for rescue assistance.

In recent times, the organisation has seen a spike in the number of turtle rescues and has also seen an increase in the rescue of other reptiles such as snakes and lizards. WIRES is also in urgent need of more volunteer carers in Sydney, particularly in the Eastern Suburbs and the Inner West.

One of WIRES’ reptile experts Gary Pattison called the show to tell us more about the issues that WIRES is currently facing.
