Innovation is Prime Minister Malcom Turnbull’s catchcry, so all eyes were on this year’s budget to see what proposals would emerge. When the $1.1 billion National Innovation Statement was sold to the public in a glitzy advertising campaign as ‘the ideas boom’, the Prime Minster said it was an “absolutely critical theme of our administration”.So was it critically important in the budget?
