Denise Straty volunteered for the Red Cross providing psychological first aid on the NSW South Coast after the summer bushfires. Whilst there she crossed paths with local artists who had lost everything – collections, studios, homes. Denise returned to Sydney with a determination to help.

Now, how do you stay motivated? For most of us, it’s having something to work towards. For artists, it’s having an exhibition coming up. So that’s what Denise created. Out Of The Ashes is a fundraising exhibition for artists based on the south coast where 100% of the proceeds go to the artist. She joined us this morning to talk more about it.
