A snake with back pain? A bird with braces? Dr Bob Doneley has seen it all

Have you ever wondered what happens to our wildlife and exotic animals when they get hurt? Who looks after them when they need it most? The University of Queensland Veterinary Medical Centre is an advanced clinic and teaching hospital that services south-east Queensland and northern New South Wales and is equipped to handle unusual cases offering medical and surgical facilities for dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, small mammals and fish.

They see about 1000 wildlife cases a year but the Clinic receives no funding for wildlife animal care and relies on community support through the Wildlife Emergency Care Fund.

Dr Bob Doneley has been a practicing vet for over 30 years, he is a specialist avian and exotic animals vet as well as working on reptiles and small animals. He joined us on the line to chat a bit more about the clinic.
