Our next guest is an author, awarded historian, Honourary Associate Professor, Adjunct Lecturer and quite probably one of the world’s foremost scholars on communal living. 

His 1987 PhD thesis was a study of communal groups and associated social movements, and ever since Dr William Metcalf has been researching, visiting and documenting Australia’s ‘intentional communities’, or ‘communalism’ as it is sometimes known.
