Global Terrorism

For months on end, our news media has been preoccupied with a series of dreary and repetitive reports concerning the coronavirus pandemic. However, scholars suggest that another pandemic has been continuing unabated, namely that of global terrorism. Whilst the curve of international terrorist attacks has supposedly been flattened, global terrorism remains a serious threat. Nonetheless, many attribute the decreased prevalence of global terrorist activities to the fall of Islamic State’s physical caliphate, whereby the organisation has lost its willingness or ability to carry out attacks around the world.

We were joined by Alexey Muraviev, Associate Professor of National Security and Strategic Studies at Curtain University to discuss the nature and extent of global terrorism.
