Should supermarkets be banned from wasting food?

How much food do you throw out? Are you impartial to a few leftovers?

It will soon be illegal for supermarkets in France to throw out any leftover food.

Instead of throwing out unsold food, supermarkets will have to give any excess food away to charity or food banks.

Supermarkets that are caught wasting food can be fined up to about $118,000 or face two years in imprisonment.

So is threatening supermarkets with fines or prison time the best way to stop food waste?
