Living Through Winter, And COVID In Remote Antarctica

Antarctica. One of the coldest and most inhospitable places in the world – a world away from the stresses of the city, and the threat of Covid 19. At the foot of the remote Vestfold Hills, hundreds of kilometres from anywhere lies an Australian research outpost called Davis Station. The station’s doctor Rhys Harding has been at there for about 10 months now, and due to the Covid pandemic he’s still got quite a while to go… Thursday Daily producer Stef Posthuma caught up with Rhys to hear some stories about life in Antarctica, and how Covid has shaped the path of the expedition.
