The Devastation of Typhoon Melor
It’s been more than 3 weeks since Typhoon Melor devastated the Philippines, where the death toll hit 42. The government declared a state of “national calamity” with the typhoon hitting speeds of 150 km/hr at its centre, and gusts of up to 185 kph. Aid efforts are still ongoing in the country and the Australian Government announced a few days ago that it would provide $500,000 in foreign aid to the Philippines in the aftermath of the disaster. Plan International, amongst other humanitarian agencies, have been providing ongoing support to the disaster struck country.
