Dangerous Conditions for Food Delivery Workers

The safety of food delivery workers is under question after there have been 5 deaths in 2 months. The dangerous work environment has been explained as a result of severe pressure to meet deadlines and deliver food as fast as possible. Many of these food delivery workers don’t have the right training or protective gear which has put them at even more risk, forcing many people to question the ethics of such a work environment. According to one food delivery rider, “The companies are becoming focused on profit at the expense of worker’s rights”. So what needs to be changed in order to encourage a safer work environment for these food delivery workers? We were joined by Law Professor Joellen Riley Munton from the University of Technology Sydney where she specialises in employment contract law, labour Law and commercial law, as well as teaching Equity & Trusts, Labour Law, and Employment Law.
