Dem Bones, Dem 3D-Printed Bones
Researchers at UNSW have developed a revolutionary medical technology that sounds like something straight out of Star Trek. Associate Professor Kristopher Kilian and Dr Iman Roohani have co-created an ink that when hardens very closely mimics organic bone structure. Until now, the process to create synthetic bone used harsh chemicals and radiation, was laborious and time consuming. This new technique can create synthetic bone in a fraction of the time.
Professor Kilian joined us to tell us more about this exciting new technology.
