History of Mardi Gras
For many, Mardi Gras represents pure celebration… the costumes, the dancing, the drinking. However, for the LGBTQIA+ community, it is a powerful symbol of something more … their history, love and activism, and of course, a chance to celebrate the 78ers. It shines a global spotlight on the lives of LGBTQIA+ people, as well as their culture, creativity, and communities.
