The state government has cashed in on the Sydney property market and offloaded a publicly owned Glebe terrace for more than $2 million. So what does that mean for the 50 000 people on the NSW social housing waitlist?
Over a thousand general applicants for social housing, in the inner city, face a wait time of more than 10 years for a property bigger than a one-bedroom home. This has caused a segregation of public housing, pushing those applicants into lower socioeconomic areas.
