US Ban on Kangaroo Leather: “A Comprehensive Own Goal”

A recent bill put to the US congress may see America ban the importation of Kangaroo leather and other products. So why have kangaroos been singled out? What’s wrong with kangaroo compared to cow hide or other leathers? With our sustainable kangaroo population and well managed harvest methods – for some experts, this bill doesn’t quite pass muster. One such expert is Professor George Wilson. He’s an Honorary Professor at the Australian National University and an seasoned expert on wildlife management.
