Monday Daily Gig Guide Gig Guide 12/07/21
Now we are of course unable to attend live music at the moment because of the restrictions in place so the Gig guide team thought it would be a good idea to look back at the year so far and highlight some of hosts Jarred and Oscar favourite shows :
The Moving Stills – The Lansdowne – 26th of March
At the top of the list has to be the Moving Stills, as it was a bit of a re-introduction to live music, being the first dance approved show since the restrictions were put into place. It was a true celebration and the moving stills were the best band to resurrect the local scene for Oscar with their music holding a special place in his heart and serving as ae a true evoker of late teen nostalgia.
The Murlocs – Vic on the park – 12th of June
For the second show chosen, both Oscar and Jarred were in attendance at and it was the last gig they both attended before we entered the current lockdown. It was of course the Murlocs along with Caitlin Harnett & The Pony Boys at the vic on the park. The Murlocs presenting the best in their harmonica driven brain-melting rock n roll, the little stage area at the vic was pulsating with raw energy. Caitlin Harnett was amazing too, delivering a proper sing along as is to be expected from one of her shows. Andy Golledge even made a little special appearance.
King Stingray – Mary’s Underground – 30th April
Oscar also had to include Yolngu rockers King Stingray into the list, being present at that show felt like witnessing the birth of a genre! Oscar felt incredibly grateful to be at their first Sydney show and could sense a lot of people in attendance felt the same way. They really are a group that are doing their Yolngu rock heritage justice through the presentation of completely original music that celebrates indigenous culture.
