A More Gender Inclusive Olympics?

With the end of the Tokyo Olympics, it makes sense to reflect back on one of the most unique Olympic Games in history. Not only were there regulation changes and no spectators to account for the pandemic, the Committee described the games as a ‘turning-point’ for gender equality, with an almost equal distribution between male and female participants, as well as being the first games to host openly transgender athletes. But, how ‘equal’ were the 2020 games really?
