Exploitation of migrant workers
Australia’s population of undocumented migrant workers is estimated to be in excess of one hundred thousand people. Without rights to the wages and conditions enjoyed by the rest of the Australian workforce, these workers are open to exploitation by unscrupulous employers.
Sam spoke to Dr Marie Segrave, Senior Lecturer in Criminology at Monash University, about the implications surrounding the exploitation of migrant workers. His first question was whether this should be a national priority, with regards the recent 7-Eleven revelations.
