17 countries currently offer paid leave for reasons of menstruation, miscarriage and menopause, whilst only 3 Australian companies who have currently implemented this policy. There is a polarising debate weighing up whether menstrual leave may act as a disincentive to women’s employment and a hinderance rather than a way of destigmatising periods.
