Australian Citizenship Day
On the 17th of September every year, we celebrate Australian citizenship, a day where we recognise the thousands of new citizens in our local communities. This year marks the 20th anniversary of this celebration, which was first established after the Australian Government responded to a recommendation by the Australian Citizenship Council in their 2000 report titled ‘Australian Citizenship for a New Century.’ This day is an opportunity for Australians to reflect upon and take pride in our citizenship and recognise what unites us as a nation.
