#CensusFail

The countdown to the 2016 census has begun with chaos as some have called for it to be boycotted. The public are concerned with the ABS’s ability to protect personal details and are angry with phone lines unable to cope with questions about the national survey’s new online system.

The census next Tuesday the 9th of August will be the first time that names and addresses of 24 million Australians will be kept on file for four years, a change that has sparked outrage among public interest groups.

David Vaile, Vice-Chair of the Australian Privacy Foundation, joined 2SER to tell us about what Australians need to know about the upcoming census.
