COP26: Building resilience and addressing inaction

The next UN climate change conference COP26 begins in just over a week, the event will see governments come together to discuss how they will collectively tackle the global climate crisis. We saw the last major UN climate conference, in Paris in 2015, succeed largely because China, America and Australia agreed targets in advance. However, the largest emitters of fossil fuels have shown hesitancy in attending and/or committing to climate change targets, leading many Pacific nations to call out their inaction as they stand on the climate change frontline.
