This Day in History, December 10th

At the Nyköping Banquet, King Birger of Sweden lured his two brothers to a Christmas celebration, had them imprisoned and threw away the key, attempting to secure his rule while they starved to death (watch out for your family pulling similar tricks this Christmas lunch). The first Nobel Prize ceremony was held in Stockholm on the fifth anniversary of Alfred Nobel’s death, and Japan’s biggest heist, the still-unsolved ‘300 million yen robbery’, was carried out in Tokyo. Plus we celebrate birthdays for Emily Dickinson, Michael Clarke Duncan, J. Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. and Meg White!

Today’s Tracks:

Dinosaur Jr. – Feel the Pain

The White Stripes – Seven Nation Army
