Fanny Lumsden on Judging Australia’s Best Album
Usually, The Tuckshop would chat to an artist who has just dropped an album, we’d discuss how it all came together and the stories and experiences that made it.
But this week, they chatted to one of the judges of the prestigious Australian Music Prize – the winner of which is set to be announced in just over a month. Pretty much every one of our favourite albums is in the running – Amyl & The Sniffers, Emma Donovan, Genesis Owusu, Parcels, Maple Glider – and winning the prize is a big deal, past winners have included Sampa the Great, The Jezabels, Big Scary.
Fanny Lumsden, is of course, not only a judge – but a wildly successful artist in her own right. So successful, that her 2020 album Fallow scooped up an ARIA award for Best Country Album and was also nominated for the AMP that year and luckily for us, she has new music on the horizon as well!
Find out how many albums were in contention for the awards this year and what’s involved in the judging as well as hear about the upcoming re-imagined album!
