NSW Booster Shot Rates Below National Average
Late 2021, NSW had one of the highest rates of vaccination rates, crossing 90% double doses faster than most other states.
However, when it comes to the booster shot, we have fallen back with less than national average having rolled up their arms to get vaccinated.
So what has changed to result in the lower rates of booster uptake?
Minister for Health and Aged care, Greg Hunt was asked to comment but was unavailable. A spokesperson for the minster stated,
“Australia has had an excellent take up of vaccinations across the community, including for children, and Australia remains a leading country overall for vaccinations.”
“We continue to urge all Australians to be vaccinated and booster when their time comes and we have and are continuing to run ongoing vaccination campaigns.”
Annie Lee spoke with Associate Professor Holly Seal at UNSW Department of Population Health, to discuss further about the current vaccination rates in NSW.
