The Influence Gender Had in This Year’s Federal Election
At the beginning of the election campaign, we looked at the possible ways gender may influence the results of this years election. On the weekend, it became clear gender has a huge influence.
Fourteen new women have been elected to the Lower House including a wave of seven independents. Of those, all were women. Six had run in previously safe Liberal seats and one from a previously safe Labour seat.
