Strap in for a succulent serving of golden soul from Mr. Bobby Oroza, the Finnish groover holds feature album for the week on 2SER in his sophomore release Get on the Other Side. Hauntingly infectious vocals are heard throughout the LP and layered with punctuating guitars melodies that are drowned in a crispy dash of reverb. Shifting towards an artist who weaves strong elements of 60’s psych folk into his music, we have Michael Rault’s self titled 6th release. Rault delivers dreamy vocal harmonies that are pushed forward eloquently by ethereal strings sections and fuzzy bass lines that bounce along the release with real charm. This is definitely a release that fans of the Lemon Twigs, Post Animal and Ty Segall will enjoy.
Also being spun this week on your favourite community radio station is Big Time from St.Louis artist Angel Olsen. Olsens endearing lyricism is elevated by a haunting and emotionally charged croon that floats along an atmospheric bed of evocative guitar and piano melodies. Going up a gear in tempo we have fuzz infused guitar driven sounds from New Zealanders Popstrangers with their latest record In Spirit. The trio present a sound that draws heavy influence from the golden shoegaze of the 90’s while maintaining an authentic and original sound that’s filled with anthemic slow burners.
A distinctive flavour of electronic music will be heard over the next seven days on 2SER from innovative London based producer Mike Paradinas, Magic Pony Ride. A personalised sound is delivered in the albums multilayered soundscapes that’s accessible through absolutely mesmerising synthesised melodies and addictive rhythms.
Looking to the singles being played this week on the station we have a debut track from local Sydney post punk rockers Finnoguns Wake in Blue Skies, a number that is brimming with jangly guitars that jump out and grab you, along with vocals being punched out that emanate an authentic and raw tone of real emotion. More local music will be heard, this time from Tamwah in her vibrant RnB number Warrajamba, a diverse track that features sprinkles of samba, soul and funk. Indigenous Northern Territory artist Harold Dalywaters wears his heart on his sleeve in his chugging folk track Karu Lungka-Da, the song delves into his fight to overcomes serious trauma and mental illness.
All this and much more going onto rotation at 2SER from today. Tune in throughout the week to hear.
