John Harms: The future of community sport

For as long as any Australian is proud to remember, sport has been at the epicentre of the Australian culture. From giving it a go to producing global benchmark athletes at the Olympics, it’s always been Australian to see what your AFL team is up to and even digging out the old Little Athletics uniform. But a new investigation from The Conversation in partnership with the Griffith Review really tests this theory- what is the real power of community sport, both for the present youngsters who participate in it and their future? A contributor to this project was John Harms from his own community specialist paper Footy Almanac and as a contributor to the Griffith Review. John joined us on the line from Melbourne where he is also currently working on his own book Play On, a self described “omnibus” of sporting experience.
