Russia Cuts Gas Deliveries to Europe
Russian government-owned gas company Gazprom has reduced gas deliveries to Europe to 20% of the usual capacity, in a move labelled by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy as ‘energy blackmail’.
Russia has claimed the decision was based on scheduled maintenance and not just another act of aggression as the country enters its sixth month of war against Ukraine.
For more about the decision, The Wire spoke to Director of International Security Studies at The University of Sydney Professor James Der Derian and Dr Olga Oleinikova, Senior Lecturer of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Technology.
