ECMO: What Will This Mean For The Future?
The Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation, also known as ECMO is an innovative medical machine that takes over the job of the lungs and sometimes the heart. This process in reanimation is also defined as ECLS, which means “Extracorporeal Life Support”. The Daily was joined by Dott. Sean Scott who is an intensive care specialist responsible for ECMO training at St. Vincent’s hospital, which is one of the two hospitals in Australia that are undertaking a trial for this technology.
