Medibank Breach worse than anticipated
In a statement this morning, health insurance provider Medibank confirmed the customer data stolen earlier this month includes records of claims and personal information, and effects customers of subsidiary company AHM. They also announced a support package for effected customers and affirmed their commitment to assisting the AFP in their investigation.
This comes following several recent high profile data breaches in Australia, including Optus and Energy Australia last month, inciting accusations from some, like Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neil, that these companies are neglecting to properly protect customer data. So what does this mean for Medibank customers and are major companies failing Australians when it comes to cyber security?
