Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk moves to put more kids behind bars

After a concerted campaign by the Victims of Crime Collective and other groups the Queensland Government has decided to backflip on bail laws.

This means that if a child breaches a bail provision, they can be locked up for up to 2 years.

Yet the current research indicates that this kind of heavy handed approach usually ensures that juvenile offenders are never rehabilitated.

With Queensland’s current custodial facilities already groaning under the weight of mandatory incarcerations many question where these young people will be sent.
