Could the Inquiry be a Royal Pain for the Big Four Banks?
After much time and debate, a royal commission into Australian Banks is set to start today. Turnbull maintains there is no need for a commission, yet has acquiesced to the political pressure. Government MPs have crafted questions aimed at putting pressure on the big four banks, yet Labor and the Greens believe it is merely a show that doesn’t go far enough. Is a royal commission needed, and should we bank on any change as a result? For more we were joined by Paul Mazzola, Lecturer at the University of Wollongong.
