GTA generation blamed for car theft
In Melbourne last week, Victoria’s Chief Commissioner said that the rise in car thefts, a 20% increase, was a result of the ‘Grand Theft Auto Generation’.
But research indicates that video games have no such correlation to an increase in violence.
Can we really point to video games as causing the increase in car thefts? What’s really to blame for it?
Michael Kasumovic, Evolutionary Biologist and ARC Future Fellow from UNSW Australia joined presenter Sam Baran to answer the questions. Sam started by asking why were video games copping the blame for an increase in car thefts and other crime?
