Are passkeys the future of authentication?
In an age of endless data breaches, chances are that your passwords are floating around on the web somewhere. Which is why we now have things like Multi-Factor Authentication; because, as it turns out, passwords kinda suck on their own. Unfortunately, even if you do have that second factor of authentication, it’s still not entirely foolproof.
So it should come as no surprise that there’s been recent moves by corporations like Apple and Google to adopt a new, more secure, more convenient method of authentication known as a ‘passkey’.
And to talk about it, we have Michal Kepkowski, a third year PhD student at Macquarie University’s Cyber Security Hub.
