Activists oppose expansion of coal mining in Sydney water catchment area

A community action group opposed to the expansion of Wollongong Coal’s mining operations underneath Sydney’s water catchment area will gather in Greenwich on Sunday 3 April 2016 for a lecture by Indian environmental activist Ramesh Agrawal, who received the 2014 Goldman Environmental Prize for Asia for his campaign against environmental violations committed by Wollongong Coal’s majority shareholder Jindal Steel and Power. Sally Kennedy is a member of the Lane Cove Coal and Gas Watch Group, which is hosting the event, and she spoke to Sean Britten about the group’s goals.
