With the Voice referendum approaching, the ‘yes’ and ‘no’ campaigns have lodged their pamphlets with the Australian Electoral Commission. A copy of each will be delivered to Australian households before the referendum.

The Yes pamphlet says a vote for their campaign is a vote for recognition, listening and better results. It argues that the Voice will help close the gap and improve outcomes for First Nations people.

The Public Interest Advocacy Centre (PIAC) is a social justice law and policy organisation that has carefully considered the detail of the proposed change to our Constitution. PIAC is a supporter of the Uluru Statement from the Heart in full and its call for Voice, Treaty and Truth. PIAC are publicly supporting the Yes campaign for the First Nations Voice to Parliament.

Kate Sinclair, a Dharug woman and Solicitor at the Public Interest Advocacy Centre joined 2SER Breakfast to discuss.

PIAC is also offering information sessions to help people understand the proposal for a First Nations Voice to parliament and the historic referendum to be held later this year.
