FEATURE ALBUM
Everything is alive by Slowdive
The Feature Album this week on 2SER is Everything is alive by UK veterans Slowdive.
Forming in 1989 in Reading, Slowdive released three studio albums in the early nineties before disbanding in 1995, a run that is retrospectively regarded as among some of the finest work in the genre from the 90s.
Their reformation in 2014 following a two decade hiatus saw the release of their self-titled fourth record in 2017, which was lauded as a possibly their finest yet – still sonically adventurous but with a matured sound and thematic scope.
Their fifth studio record is just as an ambitious one – an expansive trip of mesmerising and futuristic shoegaze and emotive lyricism, that straddles rich psychedelic textures and blurry, synthesised sounds. It’s one to revel in for a long-listen and highly recommended.
