Get Away with Dre – Garden Getaways for Spring
Spring is in the air, and other than hayfever, the public gardens would be on point! It’s also Jacaranda season so be prepared to take some beautiful shots with that sea of purple. So pack the Zyertec bring a bunch of tissues and let’s go!

The Paddington Reservoir was built 142 years ago, decommissioned in 1914 then became a garage. In 1993 the roof caved-in and it was abandoned by humans, then a home for the street cats of Paddington and Sydney. After $10 million worth of restoration, the Paddington Reservoir Gardens was born. It hosts markets, art and film festivals – a place for cool cats (the fur and human kind).

Owned by the Cumberland City Council, you can travel to a bit of Japan. It’s home to the Ryoan-ji style Japanese Garden, as well as an Australian rainforest and native garden, rose garden, and fauna reserve.
You can check out the Japanese Garden and Tea House in Campbelltown, or why not extend your trip over the weekend and drive 4 hours west to visit the Cowra Japanese Gardens which is stunning any time of the year.

With 416 hectares of botanic garden – it’s the largest botanic garden in Australia. There’s several different gardens and arboretums to explore, as well as lakes, lawns and rolling hills to picnic and chill. You can explore the garden by foot, cycle or car, and there’s also easy bike trails and loops to get you into mountain biking.
