Ausmusic Videogames: The Vanguard of Two Creative Sectors

Championing homegrown music is one of the preeminent hallmarks of community radio. For the month of November, it expands annually into the entire Australian cultural zeitgeist. However, there’s a specific lane of Ausmusic that tends to fall by the wayside — videogame soundtracks. A study from Bond University earlier this year indicates 94% of Australian households have a videogame device, with the average one-in-four Australians having played for at least eleven years. Associate Professor Dan Golding (the first videogame composer to be ARIA-nominated), and Dr. Brendan Keogh, who’s extensively written about the development and cultural practice of videogames.
