Why Saturn’s rings will ‘disappear’ in 2025
Scientists have said that Saturn’s rings will ‘disappear’ from sight in 2025. This is due to rotation and orbit of the planet and Earth, making the rings visible to us only from their side. This is something that happens regularly lasting for a few months, and the last time was in 2009. So if you want to clearly see Saturn’s rings, now is the time, at least until 2027 or 2028.
To learn more about the phenomenon, James Murray hears from Dr Laura Driessen, postdoctoral researcher at the Sydney Institute for Astrophysics with the University of Sydney.
