Are Children’s Sports too competitive?
Everybody says that playing team sport is important for kids’ development, both for the sake of vital exercise in. In some sports, certain injuries are expected, but there has been an increase in the number of professional level injuries – ones we would see at the olympics or world games – occurring in teenagers playing on the weekend. There are concerns that as children’s sports become more and more professional, that these injuries willl rise. Particularly when coaches or clubs may not have the skills needed to prevent such injuries which can cause problems throughout life, like a torn ACL
