Heavy Demo ft. Ambrose Kenny Smith [The Murlocs / KG&TLW]
Ambrose Kenny Smith joined me this week for Heavy Demo. We caught up over the phone and worked out the tracks on the fly. I like Ambrose a lot. We first met in a past life when I was a venue booker, I booked the Murlocs as a secret artist one Bad Friday. We met a second time a couple of years later when I was tour managing DMA’s through America and boy did Ambrose help us out with some local advice. This year Ambrose was kind enough to ask my group The Melodrones to open for The Murlocs at The Metro… a lot of “M’s” involved there. It was magnificent.
We don’t talk about ANY of that in this episode however as that would bore the pants off everyone. We just focus on the incredible discography of The Murlocs, we play Ambrose’s soulful collaboration with GUM, spin some astonishing tracks by Broderick Smith and I round out the episode with three of Cook Craig’s Pipe-Eye tracks. Pipe-Eye is unreal. Ambrose spills the beans on his songwriting secrets and we have some great chats. Did we play any King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard? Absolutely not.
