CAC Presents Telly Tuita: Tongpop’s Great Expectations
Campbelltown Arts Centre presents Telly Tuita: Tongpop’s Great Expectations, the first solo exhibition of Wellington-based visual artist Tuita in Australia. ‘Tongpop’s Great Expectations’ incorporates Tuita’s visual language, Tongpop which celebrates Tuita’s complex relationship with his ancestral home of Tonga and his lived experiences in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. ‘Tongpop’s Great Expectations’ investigates colonial history, Indigenous objects and political ideals with a healthy dose of pop culture.
The exhibition is accompanied by an intergenerational public program which will focus on how one encounters the different stages of life, in Tuita’s words, “dawn, day and dusk”. ‘Tongpop’s Great Expectations’ is open now at Campbelltown Arts Centre until March 28.
