Politicians’ entitlements – What is going to change?

Parliamentary entitlements came under fire last year after former speaker, Bronwyn Bishop’s notorious $5000 helicopter trip from Melbourne to Geelong. An independent review of the system launched in August has now been released. It puts forward 36 recommendations including changing the terminology of “entitlements” to “work expenses”.

The government says it will adopt the recommendations but what changes are actually in store?

Dr Yee-Fui Ng, lecturer at the Graduate School of Business and Law at RMIT recently wrote an article explaining the gist of the paper. She joined Sam to discuss the controversial issue.
